Hello, comrades!
Damage — if you think about it, this is the main result that a player achieves in a combat simulator. When developing an aviation simulator, it requires a tremendous amount of effort to create each aircraft, work out its systems and flight model, develop photorealistic exterior and cockpit models, add sound, and so on. But no less effort is required to make this aircraft break down realistically and spectacularly.
In the recently released
31st Dev Brief, our lead engineer, Roman Kovalenko, provided a detailed overview of our progress in this area, specifically regarding the physical model of the aircraft and its operational systems. We recommend watching this video if you haven’t already — it’s an interesting and detailed story. However, there is a second facet of the damage model that is equally important: the visual aspect. In this Dev Blog, we aim to demonstrate exactly that. The work is not yet complete, but what we have is more than enough to give you an idea of what a damaged aircraft will look like.
